We are the people behind both Dreamfarm & Wasted Space. The concept and business models have been developed in our co-owned company People Owned ltd.

All over our planet, in our towns, cities and countryside we have a huge untapped resource – ordinary people – whose creativity, desire, passion and dreams could change our planet for the better, but remains possibly our most squandered natural resource.

Our business idea is to develop empowerment platforms (concepts and business models) that provide people with the opportunity to together change their surroundings whilst simultaneously contribute to a better world. Sound a bit pretentious? Basically it’s quite simple, it’s all about the choices we face everyday as people and consumers. Our aim is to offer better more creative alternatives. Why not make it fun, exciting and simple to contribute to a better planet.

This process is best served when all parties regardless of age, sex, race, cultural or socioeconomic background have the opportunity to express themselves, and take place in society on their own terms. It is further served when both citizens, organizations, property owners and businesses can cooperate in this process. It is the empowerment of and cooperation between these groups that enables the full use and expression of a city or neighbourhoods social and economic capital. It is only when all of these groups are involved that an areas true cultural uniqueness can be seen.

Dreamfarm
Dreamfarm is our dream project. We dream about living and being involved in the countryside and are convinced that there are many others who feel the same way but don’t have the time to take full care of a farm or resources to buy a country home. To solve this problem we plan to build a farm together with consumers, farmers and entrepreneurs so that we can combine our dream of being involved in the countryside and having a country home with the opportunity to contribute to a better environment

We are currently looking at farms by both Mälaren and the Baltic within an hours drive from Stockholm. Our goal is that Dreamfarm will be one of Stockholm-Mälardalens largest producers of organic local food.

Wasted Space
Wasted Space is a concept that is based on cooperation between ordinary people, politicians and decision makers regarding creative and sustainable inner city planning and development. Through utilizing and developing unused or derelict urban sites we can together creative more dynamic, lively and diverse cities

All over Europe there are cities and villages filled with “wasted spaces” – a variety of buildings and places both large and small that either lie empty and unused or could be used more creatively than they are today. Many of these places are often forgotten by the cities decision makers but are well known by the cities inhabitants

We are currently working on a project plan with a variety of partners, for a group of wasted spaces we have located. We will return with more info during the spring

About us
John Higson is the creator of the award winning concepts ”Farmers own Market” (Bondens egen Marknad) and STREET (market for creators and designers) both located in Stockholm. He has won a number of top awards, including The Stockholm Award 2006, Stockholms Medal 2003, Stockholms Hero 2004 (DN), and the Golden Fork 2001 (Swedens top food award) etc. John is an expert at dynamic sustainable innercity development and creating empowerment platforms for consumers and producers.

Marie Eriksson has developed concepts and projects for public services within the Stockholm region since 2003. She has a background as a project leader and entrepreneur in the media, event and consulting sector. Five years in the public service sector has given Marie an extensive network of local and regional decision makers and politicians
